Search Dogs - Meet the Handlers
John Coombs and Search Dog Biscuit
John is a retired lecturer (we aren't quite sure whether he retired or was retired!)who has been in Edale Team and a dog handler for many years. Biscuit is a 7 year old German Shepherd and is his third search dog, His previous dogs being Spider and Bonnie. Biscuit graded in January 2004 and attained Full Search Dog grade in October 2005. John has had a number of finds with all his dogs including one with Biscuit on Christmas Day 2006.
He has just started training his new dog "Flash" a 12 month old Collie Bitch, although if you ask John it's actually a miniture black and white German Shepherd !
Ian Bunting and Search Dog Tyke
Ian is a Contract Manager for a local construction company. He has been a team member for 13 years and is also currently Edale's Team Leader. Tyke is a 6 year old Labrador who qualified in January 2005 and attained Full Search Dog Grade in October 2006. They have attended over 75 searches with 5 successful finds.
